THE STORY
“Death is so terribly final, while life is full of possibilities.”
Stories of Tyrion's life often include the word 'miracle'. It was a miracle he had survived the birthing that killed his mother. It was a miracle that he had survived his first year of life, as so few children with his affliction do. It was a miracle he survived his childhood after that, especially with Cersei as a sister. While Tywin often may have wished otherwise, there was no denying that Tyrion was his son. If wits alone were enough to win the throne, Tyrion would have found himself king of the world before he reached age nineteen. He is extremely intelligent, perceptive, and clever.. almost too much for his own good. Often underestimated due to his status as a dwarf, Tyrion has managed to consistently prove himself a formidable opponent, capable of strategizing, negotiating with, and ultimately outsmarting the majority of his adversaries. He has a smart mouth that often gets him into trouble, but is also one of the only reasons he’s remained alive to tell the tales.
“Drinking and lust, no man can match me in these things. I am the god of tits and wine.”
For the majority of his life, Tyrion lacked the expectations that his siblings had thrust upon them. Cersei would be the Queen. Jaime would be a Lord or Knight. Tyrion was merely expected to keep his head down and draw no attention to himself. Though he had ambitions, and the resources to a great eduction, without any great plans to live up to he was able to devote his time to enjoying the simple pleasures in life, which generally entitled him drinking himself silly and bedding more whores than he knew what to do with. He found a particular brand of pleasure in causing his father embarrassment and irritation, long since having accepted that he would never have the man’s love or respect. It wasn’t until he got a taste of power and responsibility while being hand of the king that Tyrion began taking things more seriously, and realizing that he had the capability to do good. Of course, where did it get him? Framed for murder... again.
“What are you good at?” “I happen to be a great judge of character.”
Tyrion has always prided himself on his ability to read people, and years of reading people has made him cynical. Most people are not good. Most people don’t care about justice, or loyalty. Most people mock what they rarely see, and fear what they never have. It’s hard to fault people for human nature, but that doesn't make it any easier to deal with. Having had very few good relationships throughout the course of his life, Tyrion is extremely loyal to those who show him kindness, and he has a particular affinity for outcasts and underdogs. The respect that Danaerys showed him was a large portion of why Tyrion chose to support the woman in her quest to take the Iron Throne. If she could accept counsel from a dwarf, and one belonging to the family who murdered her father, she was at the very least more objective and reasonable than his sister.
RP SAMPLE
Tyrion Lannister prided himself on a great many things. His wit, his intellect, his ability to drink a man three times his size under the table, and remember in perfect detail everything he did to a woman after… well, Tyrion prided himself on quite a bit. However it wasn't until being forced to become the hand of his idiot nephew that Tyrion realized his patience had gone long without due reward. And he had every intention of correcting that error as soon as he was done with this dreadful task.
"I can hardly understand why you've insisted on coming with me." "I assure you it's not for my enjoyment." he huffed, nodding towards a guard who shot him a look of remorse in passing. Really the only reason he had been adamant to come had been because the archives contained the single copies of many important documents, which would be very unwisely left alone to the devices of the tyrannical toddler. He rolled his eyes at Joffery's next remark.
"Perhaps you should refrain from threatening to behead me for a few days." he suggested, voice thick with amusement that no one else dared to insult his nephew with. "If my memory serves me correctly you've already done so three times this week and I fear by the fourth the line may have lost its entire effect." A threat was only good so long as one was willing to follow through with it. He might as well try and educate his nephew.. No one else seemed to have managed it.
"Well? You've got me here safely— your accomplishment for the day." Actually, he'd gotten Joffrey there without anyone losing their heads, and yes, that was quite remarkable. He stood with his lips pressed in a thin line, however, allowing the boy to go on. He was rather accustomed to insult— he rarely wasted his time responding to ones so uncreative. ”Go find something more important to do with your time. That is… if anything that takes up your time has the slightest bit of value.” "I will try to find something to match the grandeur of killing puppies," he remarked with slow sarcasm, turning and reaching for the doorknob
