Why?
Why do I want Davos around? Very simple - he's one of the very few men Jon trusts and cares for, and actually listens to. Davos seems to be the perfect mix of knowing Southron politics and understanding Kings and Queens and what drives them, as he is a man of relatively low birth. The Onion Knight isn't clean as a whistle and he doesn't pretend to be. So far, he's proven to be an useful ally to Jon, and Jon cares for him like he might for a father. Not that he's ever said as much, but I dearly love their dynamic and I would very, very much like to have a Davos around to advise and protect Jon Snow. What the man might lack in physical prowess and in riches, he has in heart and common sense, and we definitely need more of that type.
Who?
Here's a link to his GoT wiki page - Lord Davos's been a smuggler, a Captain for King Stannis, his Hand of the King, and eventually he ended up as Hand of the King and friend to Jon Snow. He's protected Jon's corpse, and has been around ever since Jon got resurrected, and Jon has placed quite a bit of trust and faith in the man. He's really one of the very few he unconditionally trusts right now.
What?
What can I offer? Definitely threads. So many threads. Even with all that's happened recently I think Jon will continue to ask Davos for his opinion and listen to it, at least most of the time. Aside from being able to thread with Jon, the North's where most of everyone's at, and with Davos' background, he can just as easily interact with Free Folk and bastards as he can end up in a war council or at a banquet with the Lords and Ladies!
